Between Dream & Awake

Witch House, No. 7號, Lane 56, Section 3, Xinsheng S Rd, Taipei

Taipei-raised and Seattle-based alternative pop artist sarya makes melanchronica music -- melancholic bedroom pop for all the sad bois and chronic overthinkers.

Australian-Taiwanese singer-songwriter Caitlin writes original R&B and neo-soul, weaving jazz roots with a restless heart and the kind of stories that keep you awake at night.

These two vocalists aim to explore liminal space between two languages, different cultures, and influences, meeting to perform together on a pensive summer evening.

This one is for the outsiders, the wanderers, and the ones who are the most awake at midnight.

The Duke of Norfolk, sarya

 —  —

Republic of Cider , 2960 4th Ave S #109, Seattle

Please join us for an afternoon of live folk/indie music with France-based The Duke of Norfolk and Seattle-based Sarya

The Duke of Norfolk is the recording project of the peripatetic folk musician Adam Thomas Howard. Howard grew up in Oklahoma and was inspired early on by Irish traditional music, bluegrass music, and the London-based folktronic band Tunng. After moving to Edinburgh to study Sound Design his music began to nestle somewhere between traditional folk instrumentation and more modern electronic folk. Howard currently resides in Paris.

Sarya (they/them) is a musical poet from Taiwan, currently based in Seattle after a previous stint in Edinburgh. Starting as a spoken word poet performing across Edinburgh, Sarya expanded into music in 2017, creating a unique blend of "sadboi/existential pop" and "melanchronica" (a fusion of melancholia and electronica). Their sound is deeply influenced by Scandinavian pop/folk, outsider/DIY music culture, and video game soundtracks. With an introspective and emotive style, Sarya's music offers a reflective journey through melancholy and existential themes.
